Mountain splendour

Another analogy from Starberri's life

I was walking to school this morning and I had the laptop bag on my back (rather on the heavy side!) and was walking quite fast because I was pushing it for time, so I was aching a bit.  Then there is this slight hill I have to walk up as well, and as I came to it I took a deep breath and plunged ahead, because I know that at the end of the hill, at the turn of the corner, I would meet this sight .  It meets me every morning and it's always breathtaking, and I was especially looking forward to it this morning because it snowed overnight, and it was a beautifully clear crisp day, the kind of day that makes me feel good.

When I turned the corner I can only say I was awed by what I saw.  It was more beautiful than usual, covered in white, rising magestically in the distance, low white cloud resting gently upon the top of it.  There my spirit fell before my Maker, in praise and worship of His awesome power and majesty.

The words of a song came to my heart:  At your feet we fall, mighty risen LORD, as we come before your throne to worship you, eyes of flashing fire, feet like burnished bronze, and the sound of many waters is your voice :  I am He that liveth, that liveth and was dead, behold I am alive forevermore!

And as I walked away down the street, the image of that mountain imprinted in my head, which was held high in praise of my master and LORD, I felt my soul lift also, and I thought for a moment how much I owe Him, and how small that mountain is compared to his great throne.  It would not even serve to be big enough for His footstool!  The weight on my back was completely forgotten.

Sometimes in life we are weighed down by burdens and cares, I encourage you, focus your eyes on His glory, be awed by His magesty, rest in His unfailing love, and the cares of this life will just fade away.  And if nothing else, remember that the best is yet to come, that one day we will climb the hill and turn the corner, and there He will be, smiling down at us, sitting in Glory on His mighty throne, waiting to welcome us to our eternal Home.
