Christians by love
Song and thoughts
There is a song we sang at church this morning, and it has really touched me. It's in English as well... the chorus "And they'll know we are Christians by our love".
The verse that spoke to me most was the one that says "We will work with each other, we will work side by side". In the Spanish version it says "We will work shoulder to shoulder the two of us". This spoke to me as I felt the old promise God has given me whisper softly through those words: I will have a partner and he and I shall work shoulder to shoulder for our LORD. God will honour His promise as He always has done, and my desire for a husband or significant other is weakened, as I am enjoying the single life quite a bit right now! I figure it's going to be at least a year before this promise comes to pass, and that in the time in between God is preparing me, not just for that person He has for me, but for the work that I shall do with him.
Then of course there's the universal message of the song, which I simply love. We don't have to be great evangelists, we don't have to stand up and shout about our faith, we don't have to initiate it in conversation, all we have to do is let the love of Christ shine through us. They will know we are Christians by our love. And then... well, be prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in you!
The sermon today was about the Holy Spirit, and Anthony mentioned that the end times are coming soon (they are drawing ever closer every moment!) and we need to be preparing ourselves for them. How? Drenching ourselves in His love. Resting and building strength in His Holy peace for the time of darkness and persecution.
Maybe you are going through that time now. Be encouraged! God is our Hope. You are a heavenly man or woman! The earth is not your home! Live as like a heavenly person as you can even if there is no heaven. Follow God with devotion even if there is no God... because let's face it, if it really is all made up, the made up things are a good deal better than the dark world we live in now. He will hold firm to His promise that if you seek Him first, everything else will be added onto you.
In closing, all praise and honour and power be to our God! His Majesty has it all under control. Praise Him!
