Happy

A good friend once told me that if I found something that gave me a spring, I should keep hold.  His definition of a "spring" was something that made you happy, that gave you a little jolt of electricity and joy in your heart.

There are some obvious things that do this, but there are also some small things that seem really random, but when you hear them, see them, feel them or experience them, you get a spring, and sometimes even the thought of them can make you grin.  Here are some of mine.  If you have any, add to the list in the comments, and if you have a blog, do the same! 

 

1. The moment in The Fellowship of the Ring at the council of Elrond, where everybody's voices are getting louder and louder arguing about what they will do with the Ring, and Frodo stands up and says "I will take the Ring!  Though I do not know the way."
2. "Bring me Sunshine" sung by Willie Nelson on the Coca Cola advert where the guy goes round giving people bottles of Coke.
3. Eider and Mandarin Ducks.
4. The Riff at the beginning of "Smoke on the Water". :)
5. When the sun shafts through clouds.
6. Balmy evenings.
7. When you can't stop laughing and just one word sets you off again, and you're laughing so hard it's painful.
8. Giraffes, tigers and most big cats.
9. The Globe Theatre.
10. The sound of the Jackson Five.
11. "Keep on Movin'" by Five.
12. The swell of a Gospel Choir really going for it.  Best still, singing along with complete abandon! :)
13. The last day of the Summer Term!
14. Take off on an aeroplane to somewhere new :)
15. Post from a good friend.  A gift, a card, or a letter.
16. An email from someone you love.
17. Kissing someone for the first time in ages (because it's almost always like the first time)
18. The way the music kicks in in Movies like "A Knight's Tale", "Ten Things I hate about You" and "Bridget Jones' Diaries".
19. Songs that remind me of Willow Nights at Uni - Sultans of Swing, Superstition and Sweet Transvestite to name three!
20. When you pray so hard and get God joy and God peace that makes you cry.
21. A wonderful photograph.
22. Sunlight streaming through your window on a Saturday morning when you don't have to get up!
23. My kids saying I'm the best teacher in the whole wide world. :)
24. Comments on Flickr.
25. Being on stage.
26. When someone I like signs on to MSN :)
27. The big wooooooooo bang at the beginning of "I am the One and Only" by Chesney Hawkes.  Do I need a reason?!  It reminds me of Grace, it's her favourite song :)
28. Finishing a good book (though sometimes it's sad because you miss all the characters)
29. A full fridge :)
30. Getting a phonecall from someone you like completely unexpectedly.
31. Ice Cream!!
32. Puppies, kittens, baby guinea pigs, ducklings and other baby animals.
33. Weddings and birth announcements.
34. Baptisms (especially full immersion ones)
    
35. Sitting in a park in summer, throwing sticks at your friends and rolling around chatting and laughing.
36. Tickle attacks!
37. The Blues Brothers.
38. The moment in The Return of the King where Sam says "I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you"
39. Soppy Rom Coms that end happily :)
40. When Will is very gay on Will and Grace.  Or when my friends act camp :)
41. Reminiscing about good times.
